When actress Anne Heche apparently wrecked her automobile, she suffered terrible burns and wounds that put her in a coma. While it is unknown whether or not Heche will face legal penalties if she recovers from her injuries, authorities are looking into the likelihood that she was inebriated.
The attention of the media has mostly been on Heche’s illness; the owner and renter of the house she smashed into have been completely overlooked in the drama. That doesn’t mean the world’s decent folk haven’t taken notice.
Lynne Mishele was unharmed in the accident, but she did lose everything.
Mishele, her two dogs, and her tortoise survived the collision, but the resulting fire destroyed the home and everything inside. I t took 59 firemen 65 minutes to put out the fire.
Mishele was “very lucky” to have lived, according to a neighbor who observed the accident.
Heche’s automobile went “nearly all the way through” the home before bursting into flames “nearly instantly.”
Mishele, on the other hand, “lost her whole lifetime of goods, souvenirs, her business equipment such as her laptop and iPad, all of her clothing and basic requirements, and all household stuff” in the fire.
But the community has rallied to assist Mishele in reassembling her life.
Mishele’s landlady, Jennifer Durand, who owned the house, quickly put up a GoFundMe page for her renter.
Mishele contacted Durand soon after the incident to share the news, according to Durand.
She couldn’t talk, so it took a few minutes to properly realize what was going on, Durand said.
Durand described her initial horror after seeing the wreckage.
They embraced and sobbed a lot when Jennifer came. She was glad and happy at the time that she and her animals had survived, Jennifer Durand remarked about it. Nothing could have prepared her for the sight of the home.
Durand stated that the firemen on the site were quite courteous and kind.
The firefighters assisted them in sorting through stuff – she can’t express how that feels, Durand stated. Every fireman and officer she interacted with was extremely friendly and helpful in any way they could. They spent a lot of time with them, clarifying everything and assisting them in their quest. She appreciated their answer greatly.
Durand wrote about Mishele’s kindness on her GoFundMe page.
A helpful and compassionate person, Lynne is often the first to give assistance to others, she wrote. Today, they’re requesting the community to join together and assist Lynne in starting afresh.
And the community has undoubtedly reacted.
Donations have come in to assist Mishele in putting the parts back together.
