Every school has certain rules and regulations which have to be followed by students and parents. At times you don’t want to follow the rules but with no choice you still follow them. However, the mother of an 8 year old boy felt appearance shouldn’t matter for the child to go to school. Read the story below and let us know your views.
Farouk James, 8, is quite a famous model child for many clothing brands and also has more than 260,000 followers on Instagram. He also has incredible locks of hair. He resides in the United Kingdom with his mom Bonnie and both were worried about his long hair since in the UK most schools have certain rules which include the length of the hair.
Since Farouk’s hair has been quite long, schools have warned them to cut the child’s hair before he is allowed in class again. The mother believes that it is wrong from the school part since her child has natural hair, it’s not dyed or styled. She further expressed that if he was a girl then the school wouldn’t have an issue with the length of the hair. She called this as simple discrimination.
Farouk’s entire life he has been blessed with plenty of hair. Before he was born through scans the doctor observed he had loads of hair. The little boy loved his hair and would be upset and frowned if he had to chop it to go to school.
Farouk’s elder brother, had gone to The London Oratory son where Bonnie has now applied for Farouk. She found it a bit weird since the school that once warned the elder brother’s hair to be “too short”.
Now that his elder brother is 23 Bonnie hoped that the hair policy of the school must have been changed but most schools the rules and regulations since remain unchanged. So that means in order to attend school Farouk has to cut his hair. However Bonnie denied to cut his hair so she started a campaign for change that has gone viral.
She expressed “We’re getting a real team together and calling it the Mane Generation. We’re going to fight this until these rules get changed. And it’s globally, not just domestically in the UK.”
Because of this Bonnie came through many parents with identical issues, with most children wearing dreadlocks and rocking afro hairstyles. The mother and son hope with their movement some changes happen to the pointless and meaningless school rules.
