Toddlers may move really quickly. Assume you’re outdoors, you turn your back, and your child escapes through your front gate and down the street towards fast-moving automobiles.
This was a reality for Victoria, a mother of three, who posted a TikTok video depicting what occurs when you turn your back on your child.
In the caption, Victoria writes, the most terrifying experience of her life. She is glad he’s okay. Kids move so quickly! It has subsequently received over 8.6 million views.

Victoria returns home with her three sons in the one-minute short. Her youngest is already at the gate when she opens the front door. Victoria goes down to assist her kid with his shoes, while her youngest toddles up the path toward what appears to be the main road. He goes down the driveway, then up the center of the street, past many fast-moving automobiles.
Victoria exits the frame just as you notice her kid getting alarmingly near to the main road. It’s so difficult to watch that you might notice you’re holding your breath.
Victoria looks around at that point, realizing what has transpired. She drops all she’s carrying and sprints across the road to her son.
As additional automobiles pass by, we can only imagine what most babies do when they are being chased – they run faster!
Victoria must be shouting since her two other children flee the home just as she approaches the infant.
She takes him up and carries him back to the home, and her veins must be racing with adrenaline.
Viewers on TikTok struggled to watch the video as well, but most felt it’s a strong reminder that toddlers can move quickly.
“He got so far, so rapidly!” said one. “It only takes a second.”
“I almost died watching this,” said another.
“My son did this once, and when I chased him down and yelled for him, he began running even faster towards an intersection. It’s terrifying!” jumped in with a third.
“It felt like it took you an hour to realize,” one individual stated, while several others were taken aback. Victoria didn’t even turn around to look at her child, but most people recognize that none of us are flawless. What is really important is what we understand from our errors.
Someone stated that it was “thirty seconds. It was only thirty seconds long. Every mother on the planet has averted her gaze for 30 seconds.”
Victoria later explained, she simply embraced him and wept. She believed the gate was shut.
All hearts must have raced as they watched the video, and they can only imagine how Victoria felt as she ran up the street.
