A family of three and their dog were killed when a cliff face crumbled as they were enjoying a day at the beach as a family.
Hugo Pereira, his partner Stella Souza, and their 7-month-old child were killed in a freak event while sunbathing on a renowned tourist beach in Brazil.
The 33-year-old mother was discovered embracing her kid as she attempted to shield him from the falling stones from the cliff.
Per the media sources, they were buried in a landslide on Pipa Beach in Brazil when the cliff face crumbled on Tuesday, November 17.
The couple’s kid was breathing when they discovered him, but he died soon after due to his wounds.
According to witnesses, the family was seated along the base of the cliff when boulders fell on top of them. Brisa, the family’s dog, was also killed in the event.
They dug until they discovered the dad, and then they dug again until they discovered the mom and kid. She was cuddling the baby, said Igor Caetano, a local, to the Brazilian news source G1. It appears she sought to safeguard her son intuitively.
The injuries sustained by the adults were extreme since they bore the brunt of the collapse.
A doctor who was in the vicinity hurried to assist the child, while bystanders began digging with their hands and using sticks to try to rescue the family.
According to a local fisherman, tourists are frequently warned not to sit in the shadows of the cliffs due to the risk.
He was born and reared here, and this has always occurred since the sea is progressively demolishing the cliff, he stated.
According to the news report, signs alerting of the hazards of landslides are continually swept away by the water.
Hugo, 32, had recently relocated to the region to work as a hotel manager near the beach.
“They were a really happy family.” Hugo was a great man who looked after Stella and Sol well. Sânzia, Stella’s mother, described them as folks who only left happiness.
Such a disaster; my heart goes out to this loving couple’s family and their adorable baby son. Rest in peace.
