Officer Lindsey Bittorf works with the Milton Police Department in Wisconsin, and she does her job very well.
One day, back in late December of 2016, Lindsey was scrolling through Facebook and came upon a post by a mother from Janesville. She was making a public plea for potential kidney donors to save the life of her 8-year-old son, Jackson. None of Jackson’s family was a match for him.
Lindsey didn’t know the family, but she felt compelled by the mother’s post to get tested and see if she was a match. And she was.
It was very emotional when Lindsey showed up at Jackson’s house to meet him and his family. And she told the young boy, “I took an oath to serve and protect our community, and now my kidney’s going to serve and protect you.”
