The British queen, Queen Elizabeth II, died on September 8, Thursday. Her death, following a reign of 70 years, has left the entire country of Britain and the globe in sadness. A doctor believes Prince Philip’s death 18 months ago may have influenced Queen Elizabeth II’s death at the age of 96.
After 73 years of marriage, the Duke of Edinburgh died on April 9, 2021, only two months before his 100th birthday. A portrait of the queen, alone in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on April 17, 2021, has become a powerful symbol of the Covid pandemic’s destruction. It’s also a devastating reminder of the loneliness she’s felt since her loving spouse’s passing.
Dr. Deb Cohen-Jones, an Australian GP, spoke about the effects of losing a loved one on the health of their spouse. She discusses if it is possible to die from a shattered heart. There is no rigid science around it, but it’s certainly an observed phenomenon. It’s more about losing your ‘will’ than it is about your health in some ways, she said, adding, From a physiological perspective, the loss of Prince Philip would have affected her extreme stress, peaking her cortisol levels, and leaving her body to cope with that.
According to Nikki Stamp, a cardiac surgeon, losing a spouse might set off a “chain reaction” that can result in the demise of the individual in grief. What they understand is that for some individuals, the trauma of losing a loved one, or any sort of traumatic event in one’s life, can trigger a whole lot of responses in the physical body as well as in one’s mind that can cause disease and occasionally lead somebody to pass away, she added.
Paul Burrell, Queen Elizabeth II’s former footman of 11 years, talked of the royal couple’s particular relationship after her death. She let him be master of the household, so he ran all the palaces and he ran the royal business – he was the CEO of the firm, he said, adding, she terribly, dearly missed him and he’s waiting for her in St George’s Chapel in Windsor and she will be beside him very soon. She will go to the other side and meet her parents and her sister. There are more individuals on the other hand than there are on the other side.
There is no concrete evidence that the Queen died of sorrow, although her health began to deteriorate following her husband’s death. The 96-year-old experienced mobility concerns that caused her to miss significant events, such as some of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, preferring to watch from afar or send senior royals in her place. The queen spent one night in the hospital last autumn due to an undisclosed illness.
