According to all accounts, Homer was very active in his son’s life and motivated him to strive for greatness before embarking on a profession that would see Richard reach the glittering heights of the entertainment business.
Richard’s wife, Alejandra, announced Homer’s death on March 4, when she turned to Instagram to recount the narrative of his life.

Since Richard has not yet officially commented on his father’s death, one can only presume that he is in shock. The Beautiful Woman actor routinely spoke about his father’s support in interviews and had named Homer his “idol.”
Actually, just months ago, Richard and other loved ones met at a restaurant to commemorate Homer’s turning 100 years old.
The birthday celebration took place in May 2022 at Pastabilities, one of Armory Square’s oldest eateries.
After the celebration, the restaurant uploaded a photo with the caption-Richard Gere came in to Pasta’s today to celebrate his father’s 100th birthday.
According to sources, Homer had a major effect on Richard’s life, so much so that the award-winning actor named his son Homer also.
Richard Gere, 73, recently had a health scare while vacationing in Mexico with his family, which included wife Alejandra Silva and their two daughters.
The actor is alleged to have acquired the illness while on vacation. It was eventually found that the actor from The American Gigolo already had a cough, which had gotten worse in Mexico. He went to the hospital because of his exacerbated coughing and was diagnosed with pneumonia. The actor was admitted to the hospital for observation but was discharged the next day.
