A convicted sex offender died when his genitals were severed on a decommissioned industrial estate.
Reginald Alan Roach, 63, was discovered in a pool of blood by a dog walker on the Bryn Cegin industrial estate in Bangor, north Wales, on Sunday, two weeks after missing a court date for violating a sex offenders order.
He was found guilty earlier this year of showing workers while nude from the waist down in a Travelodge lobby.
An inquiry heard that Roach was discovered ‘unresponsive’ and died from injuries to his private regions.
On Monday, North Wales Police began an inquiry into the death, stating that it was ‘unexplained.’
Cops are examining his death but believe no one else is to blame.
The hearing into Roach’s death began in Caernarfon by Kate Sutherland, acting senior coroner for north west Wales.
Dr Brian Rodgers performed a post mortem examination on the deceased, who was a resident of the Ty Newydd bail hostel on Llandygai Road in Bangor.
Mrs Sutherland stated that the reason for death was ‘shock and haemorrhage caused to incised injuries removing genitalia.
Roach was scheduled to appear in court at Llandudno Magistrates Court on October 31, 2022, about a week before his death, on a charge of failing to comply with notification obligations in regard to the sex offenders registry at Caernarfon Police Station.
That day, he was supposed to enter a plea.
Roach confessed revealing himself at a Travelodge Hotel in Gwynedd in August after ‘strangely’ asking employees to place a bet for him while nude from the waist down.
He was being lodged by the authority in a Travelodge in Gwynedd when he entered a public place nude from the waist down, a court heard in August.
Roach’s defense attorney stated that he had suffered a major brain lesion when he was younger and that the incident was not motivated by sexual desire.
According to the prosecution, he swayed his hips to draw attention to his lower half, making a hotel employee ‘very uneasy.’
The defendant admitted to becoming a “hinderance” and apologized to workers.
He confessed to displaying himself in front of a district judge in Llandudno court. A 16-week suspended sentence was issued, and Roach was ordered to pay £150 in restitution to the hotel worker who was ‘horrified by his behavior.’
He admitted in 2020 to damaging a poppy monument the day after Remembrance Sunday in 2019.
Police were given a £300 clean-up fee in 2019 after Roach enjoyed himself in his cell and defecated in a police station shower.
The hearing was postponed by the acting senior coroner pending the outcome of additional investigations.
Following the announcement earlier this week regarding the loss of a man who was found slumped in Parc Bryn Cegin, Llandegai, the Coroner has begun an inquest, said a spokeswoman for North Wales Police.
Following a Home Office Post Mortem, and to put an end to uncooperative speculation, they can verify that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death of Reginald Alan Roach. However, they would like to renew their appeal for anyone who saw an elderly man, roughly 5’8″ tall and wearing blue jeans with a grey hooded top, in the area between 10am on Saturday, November 5th and 9am on Sunday, November 6th to please contact on 101.
