Shannen Doherty is updating her health status.
After admitting in February 2020 that she had stage 4 breast cancer, the actress, 52, said on Tuesday that a CT scan done on January 5 revealed that she had brain metastases. According to the Mayo Clinic, the illness happens when cancer cells travel from their initial place to the brain.
The first round of radiation was on January 12, she stated accompanying an Instagram video of herself having radiation treatment. It’s clear that she is terrified. She is a claustrophobic person with a lot going on in her life.
She said that she is lucky to have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the incredible techs at Cedar Sinai. But that fear…. the turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is how cancer can appear.
Doherty’s disclosure comes after the Charmed alum posted an Instagram video of herself being fitted for the mask she used while having treatment on June 5 with the caption “January 9, 2023.”
Doherty previously provided an update on her health during a Charmed panel at 90s Con in March, alongside Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory, and Drew Fuller, and chaired by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman.
She is feeling great, thank you, Doherty said when inquired how she was feeling. … This audience is incredible!
Doherty has often posted updates on her treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and announced that the illness has returned after remission in 2017.
Is everything pretty? NO, but it’s true, and her intention in expressing is that everyone become more informed, more acquainted with what cancer looks like, she said in October 2021 on Instagram. She hope she has motivated individuals to get mammograms, to get regular checkups, to cut through the fear and face whatever lies ahead.
