She Was Worried To Answer Her Daughter’s Questions About Missing Father On Christmas.

My daughter is 4. She’s sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of how her life is about to be turned upside down. She’s so excited about Christmas, and it kills me that this holiday might leave a sour taste in her mouth from now on because of what’s about to happen. Unfortunately she’s pretty used to upheaval around this time of year.

What she doesn’t know is right now her father is getting a couple bags and leaving our home, possibly for good this time. I tried everything to make our marriage work and keep our family whole. But I’m no match for untreated mental illness. I’m no match for her father’s selfishness and refusal to change.

I don’t know how I’m going to keep her spirits up, and give her a good Christmas. She loves her daddy and this is going to devastate her and I feel powerless to stop it. She’s all I care about and tomorrow she’s going to ask me in her sweet little voice why daddy isn’t home and I don’t know what to say. It’s killing me.

I’m so sorry baby. I tried.
