In Fort Benning, Georgia, two young boys – ages 9 and 13 – wanted to help raise funds for their church, so their church could help those in need. So during a bake sale, the boys entered a local Taco Bell, asking if customers there would like to buy their treats. But there was something about those boys that caught the attention of Army Lt. Col. Robert Risdon.
They appeared to be extremely cold and they were both very wet from the rains in the area. So he asked them if they had had dinner yet. When they answered no, he had them follow him to the counter and bought them some food.
Someone else at the restaurant caught the moment on video and posted it online, saying “I had to video it and share. Our troops are always taking care of us.”
I was in a taco bell tonight when two kids came in trying to sell home made desserts for money. I over heard a soldier ask the kids if they were hungry and told them to follow him to the counter, he would buy them dinner. I had to video it and share. Our troops are always taking care of us. Thank u LTC Robert Risdon please please share this….I heard the little one say I want to be just like u when I grow up and saluted him.

After getting their dinners, the 9-year-old boy looked up to the lieutenant colonel and said and did something that just warmed everyone’s heart.
He said: “I want to be just like you when I grow up.”
And then, he saluted the soldier. I am sure Lt. Col. Risden was not expecting that. And I’m also sure it’s something he won’t forget.
