Jerina Edwards is battling breast cancer. It’s a devastating thing, but something happened that made her appreciate life even more.
She and her family were eating at a Chinese restaurant around Christmastime when, suddenly, an anonymous patron, who apparently had overheard the family’s conversation on the cancer, offered to pick up the tab.
A note was written on one of the bills covering the meal. And it explained his reason for paying for the meal. He wrote: ‘I lost my wife to cancer five years ago. I know how tough it can be going through this. Your meal is on me. ‘Merry Christmas.’
Jerina thanked the kindhearted stranger in a social media post, which has since been viewed more than 35,000 times.
Says Jerina in her post: ‘More than anything, having cancer has shown me that there are a lot of good people in this world and that I am grateful my own family won’t be leaving notes like this for others.’
‘It has been hard,’ .
‘I have fought, I have been sick, tears have been shed, I have missed out on things, I have lost my hair, and I will lose my breast, but I will live.
‘My parents will still have their daughter, my husband will still have his wife, my children will still have their mother.’
She ended her post with a personal message to the kindhearted stranger at the restaurant.
‘Whoever you are – thank you.’
