According to officials, a woman from North Carolina was detained and faces many counts after reportedly attempting to castrate her 5-year-old stepson.
Bracey Renee Byrd, 33, was detained on Friday and charged with attempted murder, felony child abuse causing significant bodily harm, intentional castration, first-degree kidnapping, and three charges of criminal child abuse causing physical harm.
The woman was arrested and released on a $2 million secured bail.

With third-degree burns and other wounds, the kid was brought to the Wilson Medical Center Emergency Department.
The small youngster was subsequently sent to the UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill for further treatment.
According to authorities, the boy suffered bruises to his face, arms, head, upper and lower legs, back, and genital area. Some of the wounds were older and in the healing phase at the moment.
