Every school displays something on their notice board. Sometimes information regarding school or general information. Here, a daycare shared a reminder to the parents which had a mixed reaction to their message. Read below to find out.
A note on a daycare door in Hockley, Texas was not about welcoming parents or informing them about illness in the classroom or about lice. Instead it was a note that expressed the problematic behaviours the daycare supervisor observed from the parents.
The sign on the board shocked the parents. However Julia Mazurkewicz was not shocked, rather clicked a picture of the notice and shared it on her Facebook page where more than 1 million individuals shared their views.
The daycare sign read: “You are picking up your child! GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!
Your child is happy to see you! Are you not happy to see your child? We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone.
We have heard a child say, ‘Mommy, Mommy, Mommy…’ and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child. It is appalling. Get off your phone!!!”
Julia understood what the daycare was trying to convey with the message on the board. Initially she was a bit surprised however didn’t have anything negative towards the daycare. She believed that the staff was interested in the child’s well-being where they didn’t mind expressing their outrage to the parent.
In Julia’s post it was visible people’s comments were in the tone of anger and upset. A person mentioned that the sign was rude and offensive and how could the school tell the parents to not use their phone. The parents might be working, or maybe an emergency.
