In Gainesville, Florida, a mother of four went through the checkout at a Target store and came up short for the items she was buying. So she started to have the cashier put back the Pumpkin Spice candle and the makeup she had picked out for herself.
After a tough week of taking care of her sick children and dealing with postpartum depression from the youngest, she was really looking forward to relaxing with the scent of that Pumpkin Spice candle. And maybe trying to make herself feel better by looking better with that makeup. It all would have made such a nice difference…. but she didn’t have enough money to buy them.
The man behind her in line at Target, however, did. And he bought them for her, saying that she deserved it, and he absolutely would not take “no” for an answer. He was a complete stranger, and his sheer kindness to her made her cry.
And now, with a Facebook post about that moment in line at the Target store, she hopes her thank-you will be spotted by him. It was his kind gesture that did more than make her day. It made her week. And she promised to pay it forward.
