Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have joined Paul McCartney’s initiative to abstain from eating beef on one day a week. They released a combined video on Twitter to discuss their participation in McCartney’s Meat Free Monday program, which is now in its tenth year.
Why not try one day a week without meat? Good for the planet and your body. #MeatFreeMonday@PaulMcCartney @StellaMcCartney@maryamccartney pic.twitter.com/UJxROBbrpY

According to their website, the Meat Free Monday slogan is “One day a week can make a world of difference,” and the concept is to give up meat on Mondays to inspire individuals to help slow climate change, conserve precious natural resources, and boost their health by having at least one plant-based day each week.
Hanks and Wilson sent Meat Free Monday a beautiful happy birthday video and endorsed their mission statement. Doing without meat is healthy for the world and the creatures one shares it with, Hanks remarked, while Wilson added that it’s also beneficial for one’s health.
It’s wonderful to do with less meat for people who aren’t full-fledged vegans or vegetarians, no meat on Monday, it’s really a simple and straightforward thing to do, Hanks concluded. The video ends with Hanks stating, “Let’s do it, honey!” and Rita answering, “Let’s do it!”
Sir Richard Branson, Emma Thompson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Woody Harrelson are all supporters of the easy lifestyle adjustment, in addition to these two megastars.
Paul McCartney is pleased that his project has passed a ten-year milestone. “They love it, we love it, the planet loves it, everybody loves it, the animals love it. It’s Meat Free Monday – happy 10 years!” he added in a statement.
