Two-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized in Iowa After Being Attacked by Neighbor’s Dog

After spending a week in the hospital due to a neighbor’s dog mauling him, a 2-year-old Iowan child is now recovering at home.

Kameron Swaab suffered facial wounds after being bitten by a dog last weekend, according to a GoFundMe page set up by a family friend to aid with medical bills. He was admitted to the hospital the next day with a fever and an illness caused by the bite.

During this awful incident, Kameron stays in the best of spirits with his spunky laugh, love for dinosaurs, and receiving lots of cuddle time from his Mom, Ellie Altman said on the GoFundMe page.

According to the campaign, Kameron underwent stitches and was given painkillers throughout his hospital stay. Kameron, who has nine siblings, celebrated his third birthday while in the hospital.

They were hoping to celebrate him today, but his little body is working so hard for recovery [that] he has been sleeping most of the day, Sara Swaab, Kameron’s mother, said on the campaign on May 27.

Sara also said that Kameron’s temperature remained about 103 degrees Fahrenheit “even with IV meds.”

According to the campaign, Kameron was discharged from the hospital the next day, on May 28.

Next steps for his medical follow-ups are uncertain at this time, but the family is thrilled to be together under one roof, according to an updated post on GoFundMe.

It’s unknown what kind of dog was engaged in the assault or what transpired thereafter. It is also unknown if any charges will be brought.
