Vince Gill is a country music legend who appears to be getting better with age. Over the course of his forty-year career, he has released over 20 albums, with over 26 million copies sold.
Years ago, the artist wrote and performed one of his favorites, “Go Rest High on that Mountain.” He’s re-releasing the song now.
Gill penned the song when fellow country music singer Keith Whitley died over a period of many years in 1989.
Gill was inspired to continue working on the piece when his brother died of a heart attack in 1993. It was published in 1995.
Vince captivated the hearts of his audience at one of his most recent shows with his interpretation of his song, starting with the quiet piano and guitar seen in the video below.
Backlit gently, Gill obviously put all of his sorrow and sadness into the song, which is distinguished by the intensity and tone of his voice.
Aside from his performance, the film uses images of military families and sweeping vistas of infinite oceans of headstones to deliver a statement.
