Watching his mom stripped of her royal titles, 14-YO William promised Diana: “I will give it back to you when I am King”

Princess Diana and Prince Charles get married in 1981. After the wedding, Diana became Princess of Wales. This designation put her through years of chaos in her married life and compelled her to follow to the numerous amounts of regal expectations.

Prince William was born in 1982 and Prince Harry was born in 1984. And when it came to her children, the devoted mother would be prepared to break the royal rules for them.

While her bond with her children couldn’t have been better, the one with her spouse was twisted with plenty of hurls, including an extra marital affair as well.

In 1992, Prince Charles and Princess Diana declared that they were dissociating but she carried on to accomplish royal responsibilities. The Queen advised the couple to get a divorce in 1996 and the they did so after a pact was reached upon. The pact comprised that Princess Diana having to give up her designation of ‘Her Royal Highness’ and everything otherwise that permits her to make future entitlements to the British throne. Nevertheless, the pact permitted her to keep the designation of ‘Princess of Wales.’

It is said that it took them years to validate their separation because of differences over money and access, but also predominantly because of Diana’s designation. She wanted to retain the title of ‘Her Royal Highness’ since nothing can alter the fact that will continuously be the mom of the upcoming successor to the throne.

By giving up this designation destined that she would have all official contacts to her children taken away from her. It would mean that Princess Diana would have to go through the numerous royal rulebooks if she sought to continue her association with her sons.

It is stated that Queen Elizabeth II also approved that Princess Diana should be permitted to keep the title. Though, Prince Charles was supposedly rigid of having his ex-wife stripped of the designation and taking away the rights that were associated with it.

Prince William was just 14 when the episode occurred and he could not tolerate to see his mom in the situation state that she was and even at that age, he tried to ease Princess Diana while she was in a state of suffering.

The stewardess exposed the earnest promise that Prince William made to his mother in that situation. He sat with her mother one night when she was upset over the loss of the title, William put his arms around her and said, ‘Don’t fear, Mummy. I will give it back to you one day when I am King”. This talk left the Princess Diana in tears.

Regrettably, Princess Diana will not ever get to see her child rise to the throne after she died in 1997 after a car accident. Losing his mom at a very early age sent Prince William in a state of shock wave and it took him years to deal with it.
