Some families simply don’t feel complete until they’ve thoroughly investigated their choices for having more than one kid.
This video tells the tale of Matt and Jodi Parry, who were blissfully nurturing their son Finlay until they learned they were expecting.
When the couple went to the clinic for a prenatal scan, the doctor informed them that not only did the baby look to be healthy, but Jodi was also pregnant with twins.
Jodi went into preterm labor in the summer of 2011, and Isobel and Abigail were born six weeks early. Since the babies were underweight and required time to mature, they were immediately transported to the neonatal unit.
The parents had been told that their twin girls would stay in the hospital for four weeks, however when their doctor brought them in for a surprise appointment after two weeks, they saw a peculiar expression on his face.
The doctor apologized to the couple before notifying them that their twin daughters had Down syndrome.
Even though the couple was first shaken by the news, Jodi is bewildered as to why the doctor felt compelled to apologize to the couple for their twins’ Down syndrome.
She’ll never understand what he was sorry for to this day. And if she ever gets the chance to see him again, she’d like to show him Abigail and Isobel as they wouldn’t trade Abigail and Isobel for anything, Jodi says.
