We were drinking with some friends, and I (23F) playfully hid my boyfriend’s (23M) vape. We weren’t super drunk, he had had only a few beers, and I had only had one.
Once he realized I had the vape he walked over to me, both of us giggling as I was twisting my body around so he couldn’t grab the vape from my hands.
Once he got it we both laughed, and he wagged his finger in my face, jokingly. He then quickly lifted his hand and slapped me. It wasn’t incredibly hard, it stung a little bit, but didn’t leave me red or anything.
I held my face as my jaw dropped, and he continued smiling and walked away to another group of friends. Two of our friends saw this happen and could only stare blank eyed at me with their jaws open as well.
He’s never harmed me in the 3 years we’ve been together, never was violent, never even uttered a mean word to me. But this caught me so off guard and made me cry.
Once he realized how hard he hit me and saw me crying, his demeanor changed into fully apologetic and terribly sad— and I believed him. He was truly sorry for what he had done.
I haven’t told anyone out of fear of them seeing him in a different light.
