Esmond Allcock was on his way to become Canada’s oldest resident in 2018. The husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born in 1910 and had a long and rich life. His family was very important to him, and he made every effort to keep in touch with all.
Jenna Lehne named her kid Esmond after her grandfather. For three decades, he was a constant in her life. While few kids get the chance to meet their grandparents, infant Esmond did.
Lehne recalled how her great-grandfather assisted her with crawling after she informed him she wished to “Walk Walk.” When he found out she was having her first kid, he told his friends and relatives. He was delighted and proud.
He said something surprising when she told him she was having another son. He informed his wife that none of his 71 offspring had been named after him. Lehne and her husband agreed right away that their second kid would be named after him.
As soon as she was able, Lehne escorted the infant to see her great-grandfather. The meeting did not go as planned. She stated that when they arrived, he had no idea who she was. He recognized her grandparents, but he wasn’t sure about her.
Despite this, he couldn’t keep his gaze away from infant Esmond, who he liked holding in his arms. He instantly remembered Lehne as the small girl he used to “Walk Walk” with in the middle of their stay. It was a wonderful time for her.
The closeness between Esmond Senior and Esmond Junior enhanced the family vacation. They were inseparable, and the great-grandfather was overwhelmed with emotion as he connected with the newest member of his family.
“You have no idea what this means to me,” he continued repeating. It meant a lot to Lehne, who considered herself fortunate to still have him in her life. She stated that he inquired about the kid on a frequent basis and requested information.
“Once the snow melts, we’ll be on our way to see him again,” Lehne added. Great-great-grandpa Esmond, tiny Ez, and the ‘Walk Walk’ girl will be there.” Netizens were likewise moved by the story.
“Adorable friendship and moving narrative,” one person said. Others described it as a pleasant interaction and stated, “I miss my grandfather.” “I know he was honored,” said another commenter. It was a moment Esmond Senior will never forget.
