Young hockey player tragically dies after ice skate accidentally sliced his neck.

On Thursday, January 6, a 16-year-old kid died after colliding with another ice hockey player during a high school hockey game in Connecticut.

Teddy Balkind died after being slashed in the neck by another player’s ice skate. The 10th grader from Greenwich’s St. Luke’s School had fallen to the ground, and the other player was unable to stop in time.

His father was there for the game versus Brunswick School, which was called off instantly. Medics raced to the scene.

He was brought to Greenwich Hospital, where he died as a result of his wounds.

His school declared the next day that the staff’s sole attention was to care for a heartbroken community.

They lost a beautiful young man in a horrible accident yesterday, according to a statement received by CBS 2. As they seek to help their students and families, both St. Luke’s and Brunswick Schools are in disbelief.

The National Hockey League posted a statement on Twitter, with the hashtag #StickOutForTeddy, writing-The National Hockey League mourns the loss of Teddy Balkind, a member of the hockey family gone too soon. Their thoughts and prayers are with his family, his St. Luke’s teammates, and his many pals.

Teddy’s character was described in an email issued to families by Camp Awosting, which he has attended since 2014. Teddy Balkind was a courageous, lovely spirit, full of life and a buddy to everybody, according to the email.

He had an enthusiastic, pleasant demeanor that soon diffused to others in all facets of Awosting life. He felt honored to be selected the 2021 Iroquois Tribal Captain, despite being a natural leader.

Teddy’s death was declared unintentional by the state medical examiner on Monday.
