A white bride who came to her wedding reception on a chain with her white fiancé has split opinion on TikTok when a video showing him crawling on all fours, claiming to be a dog, went viral.
Tra Alexander and his bride, both from Gallatin, Tennessee, married in early April in a ceremony attended by relatives and friends, and after the reception, the groom was observed executing a bizarre dance to the music of George Clinton’s Atomic Dog. Many people slammed the couple’s entry, calling it “racist and strange.”

However, Alexander clarified that the song was an internal joke he cherished with his siblings, and that the leash was a reference to the fact that his wife had ‘finally got him’ after six years of dating.
Alexander and his bride were shown arriving at their wedding reception in the video, which has been viewed over 482,000 times on the social media network. The bride had a leash put around Alexander’s neck, and the groom dashed down to the floor, where he proceeded to act like a dog.
Alexander was swaggering on the floor, rubbing himself against his wife and miming peeing on her like a male dog. Likewise, his wife whirled around him, gently jerking the leash to guide him around the room. Family members could be heard applauding the newlyweds and dancing around them. And a youngster in a cream suit and a cowboy hat could be seen beaming as he walked around the pair.
While everybody in the video appeared to be having a good time, many were startled by the unusual film and indicated that the connection between the white woman and her black husband had racial overtones.
‘I’m so pleased I don’t know anyone who thinks this is OK,’ one individual said. ‘I can’t even imagine all those sisters cheering him on,’ remarked another. ‘I don’t like it, and I don’t get the comedy,’ one person stated. Many people were also dissatisfied with the fact that kids were present at the reception during the dance.
But, in an interview Alexander stated that the dance was actually a tribute to his dad, who likes the song Atomic Dog. His father created his own dance for it a long time ago. And it’s been passed down to his oldest sister and then to him ever since. And putting him on a leash was a joke, alluding to the fact that his wife had finally gotten him after six years of dating. Alexander added that it was a sign that she had finally gotten him. In his words, there was nothing like saying, ‘Oh, that’s my slave owner.’
