The heavily hyped ‘American Idol’ Season 20 winner was announced on the ABC singing competition show’s currently airing finals episode. Fans were surprised and angered after realizing that Noah Thompson won the season while platinum-ticket holder HunterGirl finished second.
Many fans flocked to Twitter to express their displeasure with the 16 million voters that gave Noah, 19, the prize, despite his performances consistently falling short of his competition HunterGirl’s. Fans had numerous reactions to the final result, ranging from blaming the program of being rigged to being pleased that their favorite HunterGirl would not be confined by the restricted ‘American Idol’ winner’s recording deal.
