Johnny Depp’s Lawyer Says Her Viral Stardom Is ‘Surreal’: ‘I Don’t Know My Way Around TikTok’

Camille Vasquez ponders her newly gained TikTok popularity.

In an exclusive interview, the lawyer claims she “didn’t know what was going on on social media” during the six-week defamation trial in which her client Johnny Depp came out relatively successful, with the jury paying him $10.35 million in damages against ex-wife Amber Heard.

She is not too astonished since she knows the facts, Vasquez says of how the public reacted throughout the trial. She understood the facts, and knew they were on the right side of this. And she is well-versed in all of it.

Vasquez expressed that becoming a TikTok star is “words she never dreamed she would hear.”

She says it’s amusing, but also bizarre. It’s overwhelming, but she truly feels that if she could encourage young women to continue in school, study hard, and perhaps pursue a career in law, then it was all worth it as that’s what ultimately matters.

And that is the new communications channel, and it is how younger folks and humans in particular truly connect, absorb news, and get motivated. And so, if that’s the venue, so be it, she continues, admitting, “I’m not familiar with TikTok.”

Depp won all three defamation charges in the lawsuit last week, and a jury gave him $15 million in damages, however the court cut the amount Heard, 36, will have to pay to $10.35 million owing to a Virginia rule that caps punitive damages.

Depp was considered to have defamed Heard on one of her three countersuit grounds. The actress for Aquaman was granted $2 million in damages.

Depp sued Heard for $50 million in damages, saying she publicly humiliated him by writing an op-ed about coming out with domestic-abuse allegations in 2018, but she did not identify him.

Meanwhile, the actress filed a countersuit demanding $100 million in damages, alleging that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor led a campaign to discredit her and her charges as “false” and a “big lie,” causing her profession and reputation to suffer.

Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, Heard’s lawyer, stated that her client was “demonised” throughout the trial and that online favour was “definitely” in Depp’s camp, which she feels influenced the jury’s verdict.
