Semantha Bunce is a young mom from North Carolina who lives with her hubby, Paul, and their two small kids. She is also a combat medic in the North Carolina National Guard, serving with the HHC 105th Engineer Battalion in Raeford.
Semantha was home alone with her 4-month-old baby Bentley one terrible day in November. Paul was at work, and their child was in school.
When the mom heard gun-wielding burglars breaking through her front door, she was nursing Bentley. But the fearless Semantha acted quickly and knew precisely what to do.
She rushed up to her bedroom with her baby and hastily grabbed Paul’s lawfully possessed revolver. As the invaders opened fire on the stairway, Semantha fired back through the bedroom door. Semantha returned gunfire with her assailants, scaring them away and sending them running from her house.
She was, however, shot twice and critically injured as a result. Semantha was transported to the hospital and quickly recovered.
Furthermore, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist the Bunce family. Over $60,000 in financial assistance has already poured in from strangers throughout the country.
When Semantha was ready, she told the press about her terrifying survival tale.
“It’s incredible to know that I know someone who is that strong-willed and that much of a warrior,” her friend Hollie added.
On news sites around the country, the injured mother was praised as a real-life superhero.
“She is an incredible mom, wife, friend, and soldier. Would go out of her way for everyone and would literally give you the shirt off her back if you needed it” her buddy expressed on the GoFundMe page.
Reco Latur Dawkins Jr., 23, surrendered to police and was charged with attempted murder and criminal breaking and entering.
