A mother from North Carolina, 46, was crushed to death in her own house by a pair of pit bulls she was dog watching.
Trena Peed, who just lost two sons in vehicle accidents two years apart, was putting her dogs out at 2 a.m. on Thursday when they pulled her out into the backyard with them.
That night, neighbours reported hearing cries.
‘It’s dark. All I hear is her screaming and her dogs assaulting her over there,’ one neighbour added.
Peed’s child was inside the house throughout the assault and awoke to discover his mother dead.
Officers responding to the complaints discovered the lady deceased at her Greensboro home.
The woman’s daughter, Waynesha Peed, said her mom was sadly taken away from us this morning by a savage assault by dogs, adding, her siblings, grandmother, relatives, and she are grieved at her abrupt loss.
According to accounts, cops fired one of the dogs at the scene, while the other is presently in the custody of animal control and quarantine.
Following the event, it was unclear who owned the animals, and the cops had not yet issued any charges.
‘Whoever is the owner must come forward since they claim to love my daughter. This is not expressing love for her at this time,’ mother Helen Harris stated.
Harris had only informed her a few days before to cease caring for the two pit dogs.
Peed’s neighbour said that it’s dreadful. She was brutally murdered. That’s horrible. They were great buddies. She and his wife spent a lot of time talking. They were simply pals. He doesn’t care who it was, it’s dreadful, even if he didn’t know her at all.
The family has put up a GoFundMe page to solicit funds to assist transport the woman home to be buried in Virginia.
