As he plans to launch a competing watering hole in Nashville, Tennessee, the ‘Much Too Young’ singer has also slammed other singers for not doing the same.
While the property is currently under development, the 61-year-old said that he wants the pub to be a “safe haven.”
Other country music singers, unlike Brooks, have continued to criticize Bud Light after trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney supported the well-known brand.
The TikTok superstar is an openly trans woman who promoted the booze on her Instagram feed in April.
Despite widespread support for the progressive change, there has been a strong anti-transphobic response, with sales of the popular beer plummeting as consumers boycott the brand.
Anheuser-Busch, Bud Light’s parent company, even issued a comment in response to the incident, with CEO Brendan Whitworth issuing a statement.
It said that they never intended to be a part of a discussion that divides individuals.
Even Big & Rich’s John Rich got involved, with the Nashville pub owner declining to serve the famed brand.
The customers aren’t going to order it, he said, adding that he would not supply it. They just have a little space, and he has a limited supply.
And brother, he said, he can tell one right now, it’s a vicious attitude toward Bud Light.
Meanwhile, Brooks has said that his new Nashville pub will have “every brand of beer.”
While it is unknown when The Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk will open, its owner has vowed that it will be a “safe haven.”
He stated that he wishes it to be an environment where one feels safe, where one feels like there are manners, and where people like each other. And, certainly, they will offer every brand of beer. They just are. They didn’t make the decision.
During the interview, he even mentioned John Rich’s bar, telling the journalists that their thing is this: If one is allowed into this house, love one another. There are lots of other spots on lower Broadway if one is an a–hole.
Brooks has always been an advocate of the LGBTQ+ community, having received a GLAAD award in 1993 and even dueting with George Michael.
We guess we know where we’ll be going the next time we visit Cowboy Country.
