Kindness to others is in all of us. We can all be kind to one another.
24-year-old Kolbie Sanders had everything mapped out for her upcoming wedding in Texas, and everything had been taken care of and was all set. But, as in life… just when you think things are perfect, something dreadful happens. Kolbie decided to end her engagement with her fiance. No reason given because those can be pretty personal things. And who could blame her on that?
But there was a $3,500 wedding and reception already paid for, and that time was only six days away…on October 20th. So Kolbie decided to give away her wedding and reception to someone who needed it. She asked people on social media who were interested in that to send her a backstory on the couple through private messaging.
She wrote: “This is for couples who can’t afford a fancy venue or for couples who are spending too much money on their kids to be able to afford a nice wedding. This is for couples who love each other and will continue to choose each other for the rest of their lives.”
Well, it didn’t take long for Kolbie’s post to go viral. And when it did, nearby businesses started offering their services for free…. free photography, free wedding cookies… and free tamales, to name a few.
*Huge announcement* With my engagement ending, I’ve come to find tremendous peace in knowing that I did the right thing…

Kolbie received hundreds of messages from couples within a day or two. She read them all and did the only fair thing she could think of. She put the names of top contenders in a bowl and picked one. And that winner of the free wedding and reception with all the extra goodies…. was Halie Hipsher of Canton, Texas.

In Halie’s message to Kolbie, she said she and her fiance had planned to marry sometime next year, but her grandfather was dealing with Stage 4 cancer, and she was really worried he wouldn’t be around when she walked down the aisle. But by winning Kolbie’s wedding and reception, he would.
Kolbie said she was really happy she could do this for Halie… and her grandfather.
