When Blake Shelton, a country music singer, reached over to receive a letter from a little fan in the front row at one of his shows, he discovered something about the youngster that shocked him.
The 6-year-old was waiting for a heart transplant, according to the message.
There was also a request for The Voice coach. The youngster hoped to perform alongside Shelton and sing one of his favorite songs, “God’s Country.”
“Think y’all are having a bad day? Put that in perspective right there, man,” Shelton told his audience in a video of his contact with the child.
Wyatt McKee and his mother, Harley McKee, were given tickets to the event by a generous samaritan when the donor realized how much McKee adored Blake Shelton.
Wyatt has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which causes the left side of his heart to be underdeveloped.
Shelton dropped down on his knees to greet Wyatt and placed his arm around him when he was carried up on stage.
Shelton bent over as he and Wyatt sung the song’s first chorus. “The devil went down to Georgia but he didn’t stick around. This is God’s country,” the two chanted in unison.
After a few minutes, the child returned to his place, to great applause from the audience.
Give a big hand to his buddy Wyatt! Shelton explained.
McKee posted a video of her son’s interaction with Shelton on Facebook, where it quickly went viral. The video has received over 173,000 views.
She is not sure if Blake Shelton will ever read this, but she just wanted to let him know that he is fantastic and officially his favorite person he completely made Wyatt’s day thank you so much to him and everybody who approached them to tell him how amazing he was on stage and told him they are praying for him! Certainly a fantastic night! she captioned the video.

McKee told Music Mayhem that despite undergoing many heart operations, the song “God’s Country” provided him immense happiness.
He’s been waiting a year for a heart transplant.
Wyatt wore his Spiderman bag on stage because it contains his medication, which is administered via an IV.
He simply came home one day and began shouting to play ‘God’s Country,’ ‘God’s Country,’ and for the last couple of years, whenever they get in the car, they have to play God’s Country all the time, she explained.
McKee became emotional when she saw her kid on stage alongside Shelton, singing his favorite song.
He got to do something he truly, really, really liked and desired to accomplish. It’s a huge deal, she remarked.
Shelton also shared the video on his social media platforms.
This tiny companion made his night. Wyatt, thank you for singing ‘God’s Country’ with her! he wrote.
