58-year-old Tammy Waddel was a teacher in Forsyth County, Georgia. And during her life, she tried her best to help out those who were needy. Then she found out she had cancer, and, unfortunately, she lost in the battle against it.
But before she died, she made a final request of all of her friends and relatives. And she said she preferred this over anyone sending flowers to the funeral home.
She asked that those attending her funeral bring along with them backpacks filled with school supplies that children throughout the area could use.
It was a strange request, but it was one that sparked a lot of conversation. And at her funeral, hundreds showed up with backpacks. And because of her request, many have since been donating backpacks to schools in Tammy’s honor.
