Robert Cuadra, 18, had gone to buy groceries for his grandmother who was killed with a bullet on his head when he was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight between two men in Paterson, New Jersey.
Police found the teenager’s body lying on the sidewalk. He was taken to the local hospital where they declared him dead.
The police and prosecutors in Passaic county are still investigating and no one has been arrested. In spite of a difficult upbringing with poverty, Cuadra was known for being hard working, good and a humble boy.
He also earned a full scholarship to nearby Montclair State University for the fall of 2022. He balanced his full time job while attending Paterson’s HARP Academy of Health Science.
Robert’s mother Ivernis Santiago was shattered and heartbroken at losing her beloved son.
Robert’s friends expressed their condolences for Cuadra and his family at the place where he was killed. One of his aunts, Angelica Campos, started a GoFundMe to help Robert’s parents buy a beautiful headstone just like him. He was deeply loved by his family.
Several American cities continue to deal with many incidents of people dying in gunshots. For instance, by a stray bullet a 11 month old baby from the Brnox was shot in the face while seated in her parent’s car overnight.
A British doctor visiting the US was killed in his sleep by a stray bullet carelessly fired from a close by apartment.
Mathew Willson, 31, while visiting his girlfriend in an upmarket suburb of Atlanta Georgia was killed in a freak incident.
May no one experience the loss of their loved one in such terrible accidents. God gives Robert’s family the strength to deal with this pain. May this young man’s soul rest in peace.
