Naomi Campbell, according to Kimora Lee Simmons, is “in such great spirits” following the birth of her second child.
On Saturday, the 48-year-old model-turned-businesswoman chatted about the British supermodel at the HollyRod Foundation’s annual DesignCare event at The Beehive in Los Angeles.
She feels extremely fortunate to be here and to be able to support her friend Holly [Robinson Peete] and her sister Naomi in getting the Jackie Avant Award, Simmons said as she accepted the first Jacqueline Avant Humanitarian Award on behalf of Campbell.
Simmons stated that the 53-year-old fashion star is doing well following the birth of her son, saying that like any new mom, she’s always overwhelmed, and she did talk to her briefly, and she sounded in such great spirits.
She added that she loves her so much and is so proud of her. She now has two children and a tiny newborn. It’s a hectic moment for any parent, but particularly for a new mom.
On June 29, Campbell announced the birth of a baby boy on Instagram, posting a picture in which she cradled the child in her arms as her 2-year-old daughter reached over and grabbed her new brother’s hand with her own.
“My little darling, know that you are cherished beyond measure and surrounded by love from the moment you graced us with your presence. A True Gift from God 🙏🏾, blessed ! Welcome Babyboy. 💙🍼✨ #mumoftwo ❤️💙,” Campbell wrote, adding, “It’s never too late to become a mother 🙏🏾.”
Naomi came to motherhood later in life as she could never really picture her life as a mom, a source told at the time. But she has worked hard on herself in recent years. She became sober and really altered herself.
She now has more than enough love to give to two kids, said the source. When one thinks about it, she’s accomplished everything she’s ever desired on her own terms. Motherhood is included.
The star has already shown a few glimpses of her baby, whose birth she announced on Instagram in May 2021.
Last year, Campbell, who was 50 at the time, said she advised her older friends not to “hesitate” having kids.
She always believed she’d be a mother one day, but it’s the greatest joy she could ever imagine. She understand she is lucky to have her, she told British Vogue when she featured on the March 2022 cover beside her then-9-month-old daughter.
Campbell revealed that she has a new “completely selfless” approach toward parenthood and has no problem with the 50-year age difference between herself and her daughter, even stating that she is urging her older friends to have children as well.
She urged that she tells them everyone to do it! Don’t be afraid!
