Restaurant Faces Backlash Over ‘Controversial’ Sticker, Owner Refuses To Apologize.

Gross’ Burgers in Danville is currently getting hundreds of angry comments on social media as a result of a bumper sticker at the restaurant that has been labeled racist.

The bumper sticker went viral when a diner posted a photo of the eatery and described it as “totally horrible.” Since then, the business owner has refused to remove the contentious bumper sticker.

The sticker reads, “If you can’t read this, thank a Marine,” and also includes the Arabic phrase “Allahu akbar.”

The sticker, according to the owner, Brad Gross, is one of his “patriotic objects” that has been a part of his business for more than ten years. In reality, he said that he got it from a soldier while serving in Iraq.

Yet, the diner who posted the restaurant’s photo is still outraged by it. Sam Schnelle’s Facebook post with the caption “f—- Grossburgers” received over 800 shares. Absolutely repulsive. Schnelle subsequently said that she had called the restaurant to request that the sticker be removed, but she had not received a good response.

They immediately gave the phone to the manager, who stated, they were most sure not to take it down. They then continued to disagree with any recommendations or points she made before hanging up, she stated.

After the initial image was uploaded, several tweets and Facebook postings were removed. Gross was a Marine himself, and he today operates a burger shop that employs his fellow Marines. Individuals in his neighborhood have protected and backed him in the face of the allegations. “I can’t express how grateful I feel,” he continued. Moreover, he claims to have a lengthy history of military service that should be honored and valued. He has said unequivocally that he has no intention of removing the sticker.

Some, though, have expressed dissatisfaction with the restaurant owner’s attitude.
