A one-year-old died in a hot car after his 19-year-old dad purposefully left him in it for more than five hours. According to New Philadelphia Police Det. Capt. Ty Norris, Landon Parrott has been accused of murder, endangering minors, and involuntary manslaughter.
According to Norris, the boy was transported to the emergency department of Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital by his dad on Thursday around 2 p.m. He was discovered unconscious, and all efforts to revive him were futile, therefore he was proclaimed dead.
Employees alerted the cops that the father’s story did not fit the child’s symptoms. During the inquiry, the New Philadelphia Police Department (NPPD) discovered that the dad had provided “inconsistent facts” during preliminary interrogation.
Norris said that Parrott discovered the youngster when he left the toilet and the kid was unconscious. However, after collecting further information, NPPD head Michael Goodwin claimed in a statement that it looks that this was not a case of forgetting the youngster, but rather a planned act.
When challenged with security video from a camera on Ashwood Lane in New Philadelphia, Parrott acknowledged leaving the youngster in the heated car on purpose. According to the statement, Parrott also stated during the investigation that he left the youngster in the car so that the baby would not cause a problem while in the house.
Norris added that during a police interrogation, Parrot added that he was conscious of the dangers of hot automobiles and had read news stories about youngsters who had perished.
The video plainly shows Parrott leaving the baby in the car alone while his mom was at work on a day when the temperature outdoors was between 86 and 87 degrees.
In the footage, Parrott is seen with the baby for the first time at 8:30 a.m., and then again at 1:50 p.m., when he gets in the car to pick up his wife from work. The infant had been in the car for about five hours at a temperature of 130 degrees, and this kid was in there strapped into a car seat with no fluids, no air conditioning, nothing, Norris added. It’s awful and heartbreaking to watch this happen in front of one’s eyes, Norris continued.

The youngster, who was born on June 15, 2021, will be cherished for his beautiful personality and loving approach with animals, especially at such a young age, and for his excitement for his best buddy Mickey Mouse, according to an online obituary.
According to Kids and Cars, 22 newborns have died this year due to being left alone in a hot car. On average, 38 such deaths are reported each year, with nearly all of the victims being youngsters under the age of five.
While seeking justice for the small boy, Norris asked for prayers for the child’s mother and other family members. This is about getting justice for this poor child and this poor mother who were simply trying to work and pay bills, he added. Parrott is now being jailed on a $250,000 bail at the Tuscarawas County Jail.
