According to a press release from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, the search began Monday afternoon after the youngster walked away from his house on South Bauer Road in Watertown Township.
The missing youngster, whose identity has not been published by officials, was last seen “wearing gray and blue shorts and a blue sweatshirt,” Michigan State Police stated in a social media post accompanying a photo of the missing boy.
Clinton County Sheriff Sean Dush stated that the youngster was at the residence with a babysitter when he went missing. The babysitter said the youngster vanished in less than ten minutes while she was in the shower.
The youngster was seen heading north on Bauer Road between Avalon and Riverside Drive by many people. The youngster was first characterized as three years old, but according to his grandpa, John Jones, he is still two years old.
Based on images supplied by officials, Dush believes the boy walked “at least a half mile” from his house.
The search is presently centered on the Looking Glass River.
Meanwhile, the CCSO is encouraging locals in the vicinity to keep an eye out for the youngster and to check their houses, cameras, automobiles, and other belongings.
Authorities claimed the child is known to climb.
Specialized search teams were summoned in and “worked throughout the night” to find the youngster, according to the sheriff’s office.
Infrared heat-seeking sensors were utilized to look for the missing toddler.
As the hunt for the youngster enters its second day, Michigan’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Department has joined the CCSO and MSP.
The CCSO stated that no additional volunteers are now required, citing an outpouring of support in the aftermath of the announcement.
