Following the passing of Tina Turner on Wednesday, singer Cher came in to give an interview and honor her late friend. She described her final visit to Turner, who was suffering from sickness at the time.

Cher began going to visit Tina because she thought she needed to put this time into their friendship so she understood they hadn’t forgotten her. She spoke of her decision to prioritize friendships. She said that they all took turns going and spending time with her, and it made her pleased.

While the reason for Turner’s death has yet to be established and acknowledged to the public, Cher did state that the singer “had her dialysis machine in her house.” Dialysis is often used in patients with kidney failure or end-stage renal disease. Tina notably had a kidney transplant in 2017, with her husband, Erwin Bach, donating his kidney.

She battled this sickness for so long, and she was as powerful as one would expect, but Cher realized towards the end, Tina told her once, ‘I’m really ready. I just don’t want to put up with it anymore,’ Cher stated of her pal.

Nonetheless, Cher said that Turner was “truly happy.” She detailed her first visit to her friend’s house in Switzerland.

“She said, ‘I can’t spend too much time,’ and then five hours later we were laughing like crazy and she wanted to get up and show everything she bought in the house,” claimed the singer. “She was having a good time despite the fact that she was very sick and didn’t want anyone to know about it.”

Cher said on her most recent visit that she did not go empty-handed, as Turner presented her with a gift. The last time Cher saw her, Tina gave her a pair of shoes. What type of shoes are they? She said that when Tina left Ike, the two of them became closer.

Cher spoke kindly of her buddy and praised her courage to the end. She was a force to be reckoned with. To be honest, Cher believes she simply smacked everything in the face. She wasn’t about to give up. She did not win every battle, but she did fight in every conflict. She was there fighting for everything she believed in, Cher said. She’s one of the great rock and roll musicians. There was no one else like her. There is no one else who could come close to being who she was.

Cher is naturally saddened by the loss and has said that the two ladies were “perfect friends for each other.” Cher spoke on how the two of them provided each other support at various moments in their life, saying that Tina gave her lots of strength sometimes, and she gave Tina lots of strength too.
