Each day, a traumatized cow whose calves were stolen from her hides her newborn calves in a different location.

Clarabelle is a rescued dairy cow that was taken to Edgar’s Mission. This lovely farm refuge in Australia has over 153 acres of land dedicated to rescuing animals. These creatures, who have gone through so much, may now unwind and enjoy their lives.

Sadly, some animals are so traumatized by their history that they are unaware they are now secure. Clarabelle is one of these emotionally scarred animals. She’s a cow with a tragic background.

Clarabelle was rescued from a dairy farm where she was ready to be butchered because of inadequate milk output.

It was also just in time, since she was just hours away from meeting her doom.

What the volunteers didn’t realize at the time was that the cow was pregnant, which they found after returning her to the sanctuary.

Clarabelle had given birth previously, but the calf was always taken away from her.

Rescuers discovered Clarabelle wasn’t behaving like herself around a week before she was due to give birth.

She’s a typical cow that looks forward to meals. But she chose to remain at home on that specific day. Rather, she went about the grounds, her face solemn.

They resolved to investigate what was going on. Clarabelle’s actions were unusual enough to warrant further investigation.

They started looking around since it appeared that the cow was concealing a “secret” on the farm. The truth was ultimately revealed.

When the rescuers glanced out into the field, they saw nothing out of the ordinary. So they dug a bit further on the property until they discovered Clarabelle’s darling baby hiding behind some thick grass.

Surprisingly, the cow did not seem to have given birth that day. Clarabelle had been caring for the baby while keeping her out of sight since the calf was dry and clean.

Clarabelle had been keeping the infant hidden for a few days.

Mama Clarabelle was afraid it could occur again since she was accustomed to farmers taking her kids. So she concealed the calf to protect it and herself. Cows have “deep maternal instincts.”

They are also renowned for having a good memory.

The Jersey cow had previously seen what it was like to lose a baby, but this time she had the opportunity to attempt to safeguard her child.

PETA’s website has some great facts about cows.

These gentle giants weep over the deaths and separations of those they love, sometimes shedding tears. The mother-calf attachment is very strong, and there are several stories of mother cows calling and searching desperately for their calves after the calves have been taken away.

Clarabelle no longer had to be concerned about someone taking her child away.

Valentine was named after the calf, who was found buried in the grass on Valentine’s Day. And, unlike many other calves, she would not be separated from her mother.

The rescuer states in the video that no one’s ever going to take Valentine away from her mama. Valentine’s name was given to her for another purpose as well. It’s supposed to commemorate the endearing bond between cows and their calves.

We’re relieved Clarabelle is finally secure and in such a fantastic environment.
