Adele is ensuring that her audience treats each other with kindness.
During her recent residency concert “Weekends with Adele” at The Colosseum in Las Vegas, the Grammy-winning artist took a stand when she noticed an enthusiastic fan being told to sit down. She paused her performance and instructed everyone to let the fan enjoy the show.
The fan, known on TikTok as @juanp_lastra, shared a video of the incident, showing him standing and singing along to Adele’s rendition of “I Drink Wine.” However, a woman approached him and pointed out that others were upset behind him, seemingly asking him to sit down. He complied, but after Adele finished the song, she told the crowd that they could stand up.
@juanp_lastra Adele thank you so much for this breathtaking night and for standing up for me, so that I could live your concert as it should be. I’m also sorry that I didnt respond back to anyrhing you asked me. you started talking to me and I literally stopped breathing. I had been planning to come to this concert for over a year and I finally had the opportunity to come see most beautiful glorious woman this earth has gotten. I still can not wrap my head around the fact that I was in the same room as ADELE, sang every song with her, and she even stopped the show to defend me. I did not expected everyone in my section to be mad at me for having the time of my life and wanting to stand up and sing with her but I honestly did not care at all about what anyone was saying to me I just was in awe with the master piece I was watching with my own eyes. I did not have time for them haters. @Adele Access #adele #weekendswithadele #lasvegas #ceasarspalace🇵🇷 ♬ original sound – juanp_lastra
As Adele launched into the next song, “Water Under the Bridge,” the excited fan stood up again and expressed his enthusiasm. A security guard approached him, and he assured them he would remain calm. The security guard seemed to confirm that standing and singing were allowed.
Yet another security guard approached the fan and told him he didn’t need to sit down. Adele noticed the situation and paused the song to address it. She asked what was happening with the young fan who had been bothered for standing up and directly addressed the crowd member responsible. Adele questioned why everyone was bothering him, urging them to leave him alone and enjoy the show.
Apologizing to the rest of the audience, she told them that the fan had been bothered by security and others since the start of the show. She reminded everyone that they were there to have fun, then instructed her band to start the song again. The fan screamed in excitement, even blowing kisses to Adele. She playfully pretended to catch a kiss and put it in her pocket.
The fan posted the TikTok video along with a caption reflecting on the moment. He expressed gratitude to Adele for defending him and allowing him to fully experience the concert. He admitted being unable to respond to her when she talked to him, as he was so overwhelmed. He recounted the joy of finally attending the concert after a year of planning, sharing that he was astounded to be in the same room as Adele and to have her pause the show for him.
Despite facing negativity from others in his section for standing and singing along, the fan remained unfazed. He was captivated by the incredible performance and chose to ignore the negativity, focusing on the unforgettable experience of witnessing Adele’s masterpiece firsthand.
