Angela Bassett claims to have carried Tina Turner’s spirit since 1993.
Turner, the iconic musician who rose to popularity in the 1960s, died on May 24 at the age of 83 at her home in Switzerland, according to her spokesperson. Bassett played Turner in the 1993 biopic “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” for which she received her first Academy Award nomination.

In her message, Bassett asked individuals to remember their “inner Tina.” So today, while all grieve the loss of this iconic voice and presence, she gave all more than one could have ever asked for. She gave her entire being. Tina Turner, on the other hand, is a gift that will always be ‘simply the finest.’ Angels, sing thee to thy rest, Queen.
How do we say farewell to a woman who owned her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world? Through…
