Ariana Grande Celebrates Her 30th Birthday by Saying She’s ‘Never Been Prouder’ of Her Childhood Self.

Ariana Grande is ushering in a new decade with a glance back.

On Monday, the “Positions” singer celebrated her 30th birthday with a romantic flashback Instagram snapshot of herself smiling in front of a Christmas tree wearing attire inspired by Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.

“hbd, tiny !i trust you implicitly & have never been prouder of you,” she captioned the post. “🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧 30 🫧🫧🫧🦀”

The wardrobe choice was most likely a tribute to her impending part in Wicked, a musical rendition of The Wizard of Oz in which Grande will portray the good witch Glinda.

In the comments portion of the post, Grande’s Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo, who will portray Elphaba, wrote a nice birthday greeting.

“Happy birthday babylove, it is a joy to be in your life at this moment in time,” she wrote. “May the light you experience from the growth you have allowed yourself keep growing and glowing!! I love you, here’s to many more years my love ❤️”

Jennifer Garner also sent a happy birthday message with an allusion to her 2004 romance movie 13 Going on 30 (in the film, her heroine wishes to be “30, flirty, and thriving”).

“If you’re not flirty and thriving, I don’t know who is—happy birthday, @arianagrande !! XX,” Garner wrote.

Kris Jenner, who starred in Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video, also wrote, “Happy Birthday sending lots of love!!!!!,” as did Grande’s old Victorious co-star Liz Gillies, who wrote, “Omg. Happy 30th. I love you.”

Grande, who just marked her second wedding anniversary with husband Dalton Gomez, has been working hard on the Wicked film in recent months.

In May, she was pictured on site in England with Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey, who will play love interest Fiyero, and in April with Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, who will portray Madame Morrible.

Universal Pictures finished their presentation at CinemaCon 2023 in April with surprise footage from the picture, which showed Grande and Erivo in character.

They are born to play these roles, Universal chairperson Donna Langley told the audience during the presentation, which saw the women singing together for the first time. “They are brilliant, and they are matched by an equally brilliant cast.”

Wicked, Part 1 will be released in cinemas in November 2024.
