Officer rescued abducted lady during traffic stop after she mouthed ‘help me’

Officer Wallace of the North Myrtle Beach Police Department was patrolling US Highway 17 at 5:30 a.m. on May 28th when she saw a white Jeep drive through a red signal at the junction.

She noted the lady seemed unusually upset after executing a traffic stop on the car, which had a female driver and a male passenger.

As the guy turned away from the driver, she continually mouthed ‘help me’ to the officer.

Quick-thinking Officer Wallace then took the passenger out of the automobile and placed him in the backseat of a police cruiser.

Officer Wallace was then informed by the lady that the passenger had supposedly just shot someone, and he ordered her to take the wheel.

A ‘Bolo’ (be on the lookout) was transmitted over the radio from dispatch, indicating a vehicle that had just been engaged in a shooting in the county, police added.

Owing to Officer Wallace’s proactive patrolling of the streets of North Myrtle Beach, even until the last 30 minutes of her shift, a suspect in a shooting was arrested and an illegally carried pistol was found underneath the suspect’s seat, North Myrtle Beach Police said in a Facebook statement.

Officer Wallace is an asset to their department and community. Excellent work!

Collins Bates, 29, has been identified as the passenger and faces multiple counts, including attempted murder and abduction.

He is now being detained without bail at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Officer Wallace has gotten several compliments on social media, with one person remarking, “Way to go!!! And pulling someone over for running a red light is almost unheard of these days.

“I’m proud of her actions today.”

“She’s probably saved that lady’s life.”

“Wow, this story gave me chills,” said another. Officer Wallace, thank you for your fast thinking, sound judgment, and bravery.”

“Excellent work, ma’am!” That is an excellent illustration of why minor driving offenses should never be overlooked. Thank you for your service, and may God keep you safe!” Added a third.

“Thank you, Officer Wallace, for putting yourself in danger every day to protect the people of NMB and the surrounding area.” “You are appreciated,” a fourth wrote.

“Nice work, Officer; stay safe and keep up the good work!” Someone else expressed.
