Robert Downey Jr. Enjoys a Meal Prepared by Stanley Tucci: ‘Truly a Gem of a Fella’

Robert Downey Jr. was just given the “Casa Tucci” treatment!

Over the weekend, the 58-year-old actor from Avengers and his friend Stanley Tucci ate a meal of home-cooked “cod alla livornese” that Tucci, 62, had prepared.

The celebrity duo shared their enthusiasm for the meal on Instagram, where Downey chronicled his experience in a video set to a Frank Sinatra song.

“Dinner @ Casa Tucci—truly a gem of a fella, and Felicity [Blunt] made me feel like family,” he captioned the photo, referencing Tucci’s wife. “Check out @stanleytucci from Searching for Italy.”

After showing off the interior of Tucci’s kitchen, Downey can be seen eating the completed result and shaking his head in surprise in the video. Looking pretty pleased, the actor kissed Tucci on the cheek as the two enjoyed a post-meal giggle.

Tucci also posted about the lunch, writing, “Dinner for @robertdowneyjr + 11 more!”

The Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy presenter provided an overview of what he has in store for the Dolittle star in the video, noting the dish’s many elements.

Tucci’s fish recipe called for capers, fresh tomatoes, onions, “a little bit” of garlic, basil, and black and green olives, among other ingredients. “And there we are,” he remarked, pointing to the dish on the burner.

“I’m cooking for 12 people,” he said. “Hence the four pans.”

After appearing in Oppenheimer, Downey recently pronounced it the “best film I’ve ever been in.”

Downey stars as Lewis Strauss, the principal enemy of eponymous scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, in the Christopher Nolan-directed historical thriller, which opens in cinemas in the United States on July 21.

In the midst of cheers from the audience at the film’s London premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Thursday, Downey declared, “I’m just going to say it: This is the best film I’ve ever been in.” “I cannot wait for you all to experience it.”

Downey went on to remark that regardless of what one’s expectations are coming into the picture, which depicts the struggle to produce an atomic weapon during World War II, it “transcends that.” He and his castmates walked out of the screening in solidarity with the Hollywood actors’ strike.

He concluded that this is what a summer blockbuster used to be when he was growing up. It just, like, changed one’s life. But, again, that’s why Chris Nolan is who he is.
