On a family road trip, a 15-year-old kid was killed in a freak accident while assisting his father in changing a tire.
William Jason Lamont Bell Sr. announced his son, William Jason Lamont Bell Jr., passed away on Thursday .
On I-80 in Northwest Indiana earlier this month, a semi-truck’s wheel and tire rim collided with the kid.
Bell Sr. said that he wore his heart on his face.
Looking at a few pictures of the 15-year-old, Bell Sr. said that he’s always Baby Boy, Junior.
Bell Jr. and his family were on their way to Kentucky when their car had a flat tire. Bell Sr. stated, without having to beg him, ‘I want help.’ He wanted to assist.
Sgt. Glen Fifield of the Indiana State Police said in a news statement regarding the incident that the adolescent was hit by a semi truck’s wheel and tire rim on I-80 in Northwest Indiana on August 15.
When a semi driven by PDQ Trucking LLC of Mendota, Illinois, drove by Bell Sr. and his son as they worked to fix the tire, one of the truck’s rear wheels came loose and impacted the south barrier before striking Bell Jr.
Around 10:30 a.m. local time, Master Trooper Lawrence McFarrin was called to the site of the collision, according to state police. The adolescent was taken to a local hospital, but was then sent to a hospital in Chicago to get treatment for “possibly life-threatening wounds.”
Alcohol and narcotics were not thought to have played a role in the disaster, according to the press statement at the time. The semi-truck driver was nevertheless sent to a nearby hospital for normal toxicological examinations, according to the police. Additionally, the car was seized so that a post-crash check could be carried out.
Bell Sr. said that at first, he was unaware that his son had been injured by the tire and rim since it occurred all too fast. The father continued by saying that the family’s perseverance has been aided by his religion. He confessed that he could only sit here at the mercy of God.
His son’s death was heartbreaking. Bell Sr. said, He is in a much, much better place than they’re attempting to go to. In addition to depending on prayer, he said that they also take solace in the knowledge that Bell Jr.’s heart continues to beat since the teen’s life-saving organ was given to someone in need.
What better way to contribute than to offer a part of oneself, added, if he were still alive, he would still be giving of himself.
Late last month, Bell Jr. turned 15 years old. Bell Sr. sent out a nice birthday message on social media to his “firstborn son” at the time.
